Are We Having Fun Yet?
I was on the phone with coach Nitti. Yes, even we coaches have coaches that give us guidance… He had just watched our new Vibram 5 Fingers video for Fitlife.TV… he was impressed but there was one thing that struck him that needed clarity. I personally thought the video was rock solid on all levels, however I’m always open to wisdom’s voice when it springs forth from the field of experience.
He said “Drew, it was a great video…let me ask you though, did you have the intention going into this thing, to have fun?”
…..
I thought for a second….
Well, we always have fun making videos educating people on what we love to do, did I have the specific intention for that “fun” to poor out of me and land it’s way right smack in the middle of the camera lens. No… we didn’t.
Specific clarity is the mother of all creation..
This one little tip from my coach made me realize that starting right now in my life, before I do anything, I do mean anything, I must have the specific intention to “have fun.”
Often times our judgment and decision-making comes from a point of; will that yield me results?
Will the person watching this video like the information we are presenting to them?
Is this information engaging?
When we step back from these questions that often arise, we can now ask ourselves… will we have fun? More importantly, will you the viewer have fun watching it?
********
Life is liken to this dialog that my coach shared with me that day.
Oftentimes throughout our daily walk we get stuck, trapped and entangled in things that are not “fun” for us.
Do you have fun at work?
What about having fun with your family or loved ones?
Can you remember an event last week where you had the specific intention to just have fun?
If you did have this intention when you were in this moment, were you 100% fully engaged? Or were you thinking about that deal you were working on that’s saved on your desktop at the office.
Do you remember times when you were a child when you had no worries whatsoever; your only care in this remarkable world was to have fun. If it wasn’t fun, you wanted nothing to do with it?
Why do we lose this sense of living as we age? Even better, how can we bring this vantage point back?
Seeing through your WOW goggles.
Intend: During your day you must constantly intend on what type of experience you want to have. Becoming consciously aware of what is going on will allow you to call into your experience what emotion or memory you wish to have in that moment.
Often times, I’ll look at something so simple but yet so complex like a house plant and say over and over “Wow” “Wow” Wow” as I do this it becomes remarkable clear how amazing that thing is. You can do this with the fun language as well, wow we are having so much fun. Even if you are not, just saying it will call forth the experience. Trust.
Fully Commit: There is no halfway point with intention. You must go all the way, be fully engaged in the people you are sharing the moment with. They will feel this sense of intention and subconsciously jump on board the fun train. If they are not the type of people to have fun then they will magically jump off.
Do what you love: At the end of the day, the most valuable thing in the world is our time. We can choose what we do with it, if you are doing something that is not fun, start thinking of something you can do right now that will make it fun and engaging.
Your life is meant to be just one giant ride of “fun.”

Drew, awesome post brother. I especially love the “WOW” technique
Hey Drew!!
This post is spot on! We’ve only got one life… and if the whole thing were a struggle it would just be a drag!
I appreciate having the intention to have as much fun as possible in the things that I engage in. It brings levity to every situation and buoyancy to our step
